Choosing Forgiveness

Without exception all of us have been wronged by others. Some have been terribly hurt by a parent; perhaps abused by a father; betrayed by a spouse; wronged by a teacher or an employer, coach, close friend, business partner or church leader. The pain and hurt are profound. The sense of betrayal is devastating. It is easy to be overwhelmed with the injury and offense which causes tremendous pain, anger, resentment, and perhaps bitterness. We know we should forgive the person who has wronged us, but sometimes granting forgiveness is extremely difficult. We have to admit that holding on...

Who is My Neighbor?

Jesus was the most brilliant storyteller the world has ever known. One of His best known stories is the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-36). An attorney asked Jesus, “What should I do to inherit eternal life?” Not only did the lawyer ask a good question, he asked the right person. Admittedly before the advent of cell phones, it was good to be able to escape from everyone for a while! Now there are a multiplicity of ways to connect such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Within a few seconds of my posting...

The Problem of Evil

Whether you’re an atheist or a follower of Jesus Christ or a follower of another religion, evil is a terrible reality. If there is a God, why is there evil? Isn’t God meant to be a God who is all loving and all powerful? But evil exists and God seems to allow it! Something is not adding up! If evil exists, perhaps God does not exist! On the other hand, if God does exist, perhaps He is not all-powerful or not all loving. While there are no easy answers, these questions which are often asked out of deep pain, give us opportunities to learn more about God’s grace and truth. To see more brief clips or the full presentation on “The Problem of Evil” visit our dedicated playlist on the Calvary YouTube channel. In Scripture Babylon refers not only to a specific city, but to a system which is anti-God. Dating back to Nebuchadnezzar and the Tower of Babel, the spirit of Babylon is rebellious and defiant. In Revelation, it will become a false church and global religion. Join us on Sunday as we continue in Revelation 17! ...
