Many followers of Christ struggle with their identity. We must understand we are all unique individuals with strengths, weaknesses and innate limitations. Accept who you are as a unique person made in the image of God.

Don’t compare yourself with others or attempt to define yourself by the standards of our society or popular culture.

Your identity is not what you do. Your identity is not what you look like. Your identity is not defined by how many friends you have on Facebook, how many followers you have on Twitter or how many likes you received from your latest selfie on Instagram!

Part of being an authentic follower of Jesus Christ is realizing this wonderful truth: You are loved by God, and you are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

As a follower of Christ, your destiny is in the hands of our eternal God. We are loved with an everlasting and inseparable love, a personal love. It’s not just that God “so loved the world” as we read in John 3:16. God does love the world, but He loves you specifically and personally. He has a plan for your life.

Every follower of Christ is called of God (Romans 8:28). Christ has called us and we have answered His call. This is the greatest of all honors! This is our identity and our purpose! We should be the most secure people on the earth.

Are you secure in your identity? Are you a follower of Christ? If yes, then live as you belong to Jesus without reservation or hesitation.
