Prayer is at the heart of a healthy, growing relationship with God. It is a tremendous privilege! Yet many of us sometimes find it hard to pray. Why is that?
Looking over the last week, how often have you prayed?
Prayer is essential to following Christ and growing in our relationship with God. In Scripture, Paul tells us “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer” (Romans 12:12). “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:16).
If we’re not praying, what does that say about us? Regular communication is essential to our relationships. What would you think of a marriage in which the husband and wife don’t speak? What kind of a best friend would never be in touch?
Being constant in prayer also demonstrates a humble attitude. It shows we are dependent on God and His guidance. The absence of prayer is evidence of pride. We are confident in our abilities and want to do things our way rather than trusting God.
Today and every day, reach out to God. Worship Him. Give thanks for His blessings. Ask for His direction and guidance. And trust Him.
